Plant-Based Holiday Dining in Raleigh: Where Vegans (and Their Families) Eat

Holidays are hard when you're plant-based. Element Gastropub at 421 Fayetteville St in downtown Raleigh has the seasonal menu, the group-friendly format, and the desserts that make holiday dining easy for vegans, families, and the curious in-between.

The holidays are objectively hard if you eat plant-based. Family gatherings where the "vegan option" is a sad iceberg salad. Restaurant menus where every seasonal special arrives swimming in cream and butter. Hostess gifts that don't translate. We've been on the receiving end of all of it. That's part of why Element Gastropub exists — and why our holiday programming, from the rotating seasonal menu to the group-friendly format to the desserts, is built to make this time of year feel like the holidays again. Why Element Works for Holiday Dining The simple thing: everything on our menu is 100% plant-based. You don't have to scan for the one item you can eat, or ask a server to modify three things. The whole menu is for you. And because it's all good food first — not "good for vegan food" — you can bring the in-laws, the relatives who are skeptical, the parent who insists they "could never," and watch them order a Smash Burger and a steak plate and not think about it twice. That's the move. The food does the work. Seasonal Holiday Menu Highlights Our menu rotates with the seasons, but a few items anchor the holiday window — late November through early January — that are worth planning around: Black Garlic Steak Plate — Our hearty Chef's Table entrée. Rich, satisfying, the kind of plate that holds its own at a holiday dinner table. Spaghetti Alla Carbonara — A plant-based take on the Italian classic. Comfort-food density, holiday-table generosity. Chili Crisp Broccolini — A bright, sharp counter to the heavier mains. The dish that keeps the table from going one-note. Elemental Chik'n N Waffles — Seasonal apple-pear compote, cornbread waffle, crispy chik'n. A holiday brunch specialty even when ordered at dinner. Wings — Six sauces, including warming Hot Hunee and Jamaican Jerk for the colder months. Great for a shared holiday-party starter. The Holiday Dessert Program Desserts are arguably the hardest holiday category to do well plant-based — and the place where we put serious work in. The current rotating dessert menu changes a few times through the season, but recent and current standouts include: Tropical Pineapple Cake — Bright, warm-spice undertones, perfect with coffee. Apple Pie with Oat Ice Cream — A holiday classic, executed correctly. Strawberries N Cream Donut Bake — Decadent, share-worthy, the kind of dessert two people fight over the last bite of. Strawberry Shawty Cake — Light, layered, fruit-forward. Pop's Peanut Butter Cheesecake — Nostalgic, creamy, the dessert your peanut-butter-loving uncle will quietly order seconds of. Turtle Cheesecake — Caramel, chocolate, pecan. Holiday indulgence done well. Blondie Sundae — Warm blondie, cold ice cream, the contrast that makes the holidays feel like the holidays. For the current dessert menu (it changes), see the menu page under the Desserts tab. Group Holiday Dinners If you're hosting a holiday dinner — extended family, a friend group, a small office gathering — Element is built for it. The shareable Chef's Table format lets the table eat together, the menu is broad enough that everyone finds something they love, and the bar can keep up with rounds. We can comfortably seat groups up to about 30 in our regular dining room; for anything larger or for fully private events, we have semi-private and full-private options described on our private events post and on the private events page . For groups of 8 or more, please call ahead at (919) 703-6538 so we can hold a table and prep the kitchen. Walk-ins for big parties on holiday weekends almost never work — call us. The Holiday Drinks Program The bar runs a seasonal cocktail menu through the colder months that leans into warming flavors — bonded whiskeys, mulled spices, big spirit-forward drinks for the season. Highlights you'll see in some form: The winter old fashioned variant — usually with fall-spice bitters and a richer sweetener. Smoky mezcal cocktails — they pay off particularly well next to holiday food. A house spritz — for people who want something lighter through a long meal. Zero-proof seasonal flight — for the family member who isn't drinking but doesn't want a sad club soda. And of course the 20-tap NC craft beer wall is always pouring, with seasonal stouts, porters, and winter ales rotating in through the holidays. Holiday Hours and What's Open When Holiday hours shift around big days. As a general rule: Standard hours — Mon–Thu 11am–9pm, Fri 11am–10pm, Sat 8am–10pm, Sun 11am–9pm. Major holidays — We typically close on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving and run modified hours around New Year's. We post updates to our homepage and Instagram a couple weeks ahead of each major day. Christmas week and the days between Christmas and New Year's — usually open with normal hours; great time to come, since the city is calmer. If a specific date matters, call (919) 703-6538 a few days ahead and we'll confirm. Gift Cards If you have a plant-based or plant-curious person in your life, Element gift cards are on
